Overton (23pts) beat Froxfield by 7 Wickets
Match Report
Overton claimed the Regional North East 2 title with a comprehensive 7 wicket victory away to Froxfield
Winning the toss Overton skipper decided to use his formidable bowling attack and opted to field first. Bowling up the hill Gary Wilson (1-15) probed with his line & length before early changes brought Andy Wake (4-35) and Sebastian Smith (0-1) into the attack. This end conceded just 2 runs in 54 balls. Overtons paceman Andy Regan (3-25) started down the hill and used this to his advantage, generating pace and movement. Andy Galvin (1-3) replaced Regan and continued the good work. At the half way stage Froxfield had been restricted to 29-5 from 21 overs.
Wake was given the ball and managed to clean up the lower order without too much resistance. Froxfield ending on 103 all out.
This bowling performance had guaranteed promotion, now it was up to the batsman to win the league. Graham Devereux (0) returned to the pavilion without troubling the scorer. Andy Galvin (29) picked off some loose bowling before succumbing to a rush of blood. Dave Pitt chased a wide one getting caught in the covers. Big Hitter, Will Kinnear took control of the game with a match winning 44* coming off just 21 balls.
