Match Report
A career best 8 wicket haul from Andy Wake secured local derby victory against Oakley and moved Overton one step closer to promotion and maybe the division title
Winning the toss Oakley skipper Neil Warner electerd to Bowl first. Will Kinnear (11) was the first wicket to fall before Overton Captain Andy Galvin (31) and Dave Pitt (57) built a solid 82 run partnership before Galvin was judged to have edged behind. Pitt continued to score well bringing up his half century with a huge six. An Overton collapse then began losing 6 wickets for 21 runs, Gary Matson (11) providing the only resistance.
Overton welcomed back paceman Andy Regan (0-29) into the attack after a 5 week break but he was unable to find his previous wicket taking form. Galvin (1-5) openend with himself as Overton dismissed the two Oakley openers in succesive balls, the first a Matson run out. Neil Warner tried to keep his side together with a good knock of 32 but it was already turning into Andy Wakes game. Bowling with accuracy and pace he tore through the Oakley batting order with venom. Bowling 5, a knick behind (ct Trott), an LBW and forcing Holbrook onto his own stumps. Oakley became the 12th side in 13 games Overton have bowled out in the league this year.
