Guys,
Under great pressure from our illustrious leader I have provisionally booked in a game (or two) at my old club Thurgarton in Nottinghmshire on the 9th September.
What I am proposing to do is either leave on the Friday evening or early Saturday morning and travel up and play one or maybe two games in the afternoon of the 9th depending on weather and availablity.
I am just trying to ascertain who would be interested in a game and staying over on the Saturday night either in tents on the ground or at a B&B/Hotel? The clubhouse now has full bar facilities and/or we could go into Nottingham to sample the delights?
Could you please tick an answer above and post a reply to this in order that I can tell who has said what - if you cannot make the dates then please also reply and tick "No thanks"
Look forward to hearing from you.
WILL

I would be up for it if we stayed in a B&B/Hotel cuz camping is my biggest pet hate.

That might even tempt me out of retirement for a night away...you might need an umpire anyway???
Camping is no problem, many a night has been spent in the back garden anyway, usually when my missus locks me out for the night...

Looking good fellas - 4 down already!! Speaking to Smudge and Mr Pitt last night who should be able to make it 6. The Tomlins have an aversion to camping it up (unlike Galvin ) as Mr T Snr was also of the opinion that if he were to go her would require a B&B or Hotel, preferably at least 4 star!! So we could be up to seven. I am also trying to arrange a 20/20 match on the Sunday against a part time village side consisting of Farmers at 12 or 1pm but not definite yet, please again let me know if you would like to play in this. It should take approx 3 hours to play so leaving Notts at around 4.30 be back in Overton at 6.30-7pm?? Let me know!! ;D

Nice work Kearney! I would be up for the 20/20 game as well, sounds like a good crack. Perhaps we could all stay at Chateau Kinnear and have the butler make us breakfast in the morning. Spoke with Les and he is up for it too (depending on work). He would rather camp out!!!

bonjour, I may be able to make it but clearly I am not going to stay in a tent on a field (what on earth are you thinking? How do I plug my straighteners in?), 4 star seems a sensible compromise.
My vote would be to go bullet dodging in Nottingham after any cricket that we have to play. This raises another point do we actually have to ruin the trip by playing cricket at all?
Just a thought.

Guys,
I have arranged a 2 innings 20/20 match on the Saturday so that everyone can get involved and have a game.
Unfortunatley I have not been able to secure the 2nd match on the Sunday but I have been asked by Thurgarton if anyone would like to play golf on the Friday?
I would like to hear from anyone who is interested in order that I can get numbers together for B&B's and let Thrugarton know.
I can be contacted on willkinnear@hotmail.com where I woudl like to get all the confirmations. PLease also circulate this e-mail address to anyone else in the club that you think would like to come along!
Many thanks people - WILL ;D

Seeing as Oleg is now back and is getting his post count up, I felt I should give you an update on the tour and bump this message to the top! I understand that Andy G-String handed out some flyers from me to the 1st team last week detailing the proposed tour, I have as yet only heard back from Mr Tomlin and Son and Mr Parnell-Smudge-Smith confirming that they are "good to go". I know that I gave a date of the 16th as a response on the flyer but I would be grateful if you could reply ASAP in order that I can arrange the B&B's. This mini-tour is not just open to 1st team players and we would like to see as many as possible coming along, although I think this time round it is only open to the players and not partners due to limited accommodation. Please therefore could you all please drop me an e-mail at willkinnear@hotmail.com if you would like to come. ~~## UPDATE ##~~ After discussing matters further on Saturday evening at the weekly meeting it was proposed that some players may still want to come down after work on the Friday (8th September) despite not playing golf, in order to have a couple of local beers in order to avoid the Saturday Morning meet. Therefore I also want to know if anyone else would be keen to do this and therefore spend two nights in Nottinghamshire? Please do bear in mind the Friday evening traffic which added to the usual 2hr 30min drive time would mean a fairly late arrival time. It is therefore proposed that the Friday evening would be spent in the local area sampling a few local brews and the Saturday night would be spent partly at the clubhouse after the game and then - for those who wanted - the rest of the evening in Nottingham. This way those younger players in the squad could at least enjoy one night out locally on the Friday as Nottingham has a very strict under age policy and indeed dress code (more of that though when we have finalsed numbers!) Again this is not written in stone as yet but I would be very grateful for your thoughts and commments on e-mail. I have received some very positive feedback from most but really now need to get final numbers and dates from you all - please assume that the accommodation will be fairly basic B&B's and will cost approx £30 per head per night and you will be sharing rooms with others from the touring party! I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible and hope that we can make this a great trip!! ;D

I presume somebody will be taking a digital camera as I still need an image for the cover of this years averages and the tour could / should provide the ideal photo opportunities.......

Yes mate I am hoping to remember to take my camera and get some shots for you!!
Just for an update, Thurgarton have organised up to 22 players to play against us and will rotate these into both innings!
It would appear that they are very keen - indeed they have even dragged in their old opening bowler who hasn't played for them in 3 years just so he can target me - which is nice!! ;D

You shouldn't have too many worries if he is an opening bowler then. Its the slow spinners you have to watch out for!!!!
